WATER FILTER REVIEWS

One way to compare water filters is to look around the internet on various sites and see the reviews. When you do so you will find that there are a lot of complaints about Aquasana, Brita, and PUR to name a few of the most popular ones. "It leaks", "It broke after a short time", "I have to replace the cartridge too often"! These are just a few of the most common complaints about some of these "other" water filter systems. But when you look at reviews for Multipure water filters you see a quite different profile: happy customers, customers who have had their filter for 10 or 20 years...

You see, for one thing, Multipure give you a LIFETIME WARRANTY on your water filter housing. That means that if you take care of it - which basically just means you change the filter once per year and clean the inside of the housing when you change the cartridge - you will never have to buy another filter system!

Consumer Reports - one of the most well respected non-profit consumer review organizations - reviewed water filters in February 2012. Consumer Reports gave the Multipure 750 (now named the Aquaversa) its highest rating! You can read the full review in the February issue of Consumer Reports magazine or you can read it online if you are a member, at consumereports.org.

What you need to know about the Consumer Reports rating is that even though they gave Multipure's 750SB/ Aquaversa its highest rating, the fact is, if they had rated the other Multipure systems there would have been a "sweep" because Multipure uses the exact same best rated carbon block filter in ALL it's water filter systems: the same carbon block filter that the NSF certifies reduces more contaminants than any other NSF Certified filter! All of Multipure's water filter systems reduce over 60 contaminants! And their Aquaperfom/880 - which Consumer Reports did not even take a look at - is the ONLY carbon block filter NSF Certified to reduce ArsenicV! Whether you get Multipure's least expensive model or their most expensive model you are still getting the same excellent carbon block filter (the only difference being the Aquaperfom/880 as mentioned, which also reduces ArsenicV.

Now let us take a look at some reviews by real people across the internet:

WATER FILTER REVIEWS:

HERE ARE SOME AQUASANA WATER FILTER REVIEWS:
(These are real reviews. I cannot post the author or what site they are from but if anyone really wants to know write me and I can prove they are real unsolicited reviews)

AN UNHAPPY AQUASANA BUYER:
"Bottom line: this unit leaks. I bought one, installed it, and it appeared not to leak. I come back a month later and my cabinet is soaked and rotting due to a leak in one of the containers. I checked out the unit and it was faulty. I have done quite a lot of plumbing, and this was clearly defective. I called and dealt with a rude guy who kept saying it was my fault. I assured him that it was not and finally he agreed to send me a new unit. I get the new unit and it leaks as well! "

ANOTHER CUSTOMER UNHAPPY WITH AQUASANA:
"My first problem was I couldn't open the caps on the unit which were recessed into the base in order for me to change the filters. They were sealed and stuck in the unit. I called customer service and they said that would send me a new unit with twist caps since this was the latest system. I don't know why they sent me the defective unit in the first place. After changing the unit, I installed the filters which was not easy to install. After a month, the water pressure dropped to where I could barely get any water out of the filters. I called customer service. They told me they now manufactured new filters in which more sediment would be allowed to pass through and not clog the filters. After two months with these filters, I had sediment floating in my water."

I COULD GO ON BEATING UP ON AQUASANA, BUT I'D FEEL BAD. I'VE MADE MY POINT:
"1. Filters are a bit pricey at ~$50 every six months
2. We had problems with the water lines leaking at the filter unit, spilling water under the sink, but that was resolved with very careful installation

But, two years after installation, the housing has cracked allowing water to spill under the sink. No way to repair, trash it and move on.

Reading reviews, we seem to have had better life than most. Still, a poor design - stress concentration due to a change in the casting thickness, combined with additional stress concentration factors for the internal threading, then design it so that this portion of the casting is subject to cyclical tensile stress every time the unit is used. Seven hundred days times 10 uses per day equals seven thousand cycles to failure... Pretty poor design; any third year mechanical engineer could have come up with better.

I grade your design effort a "D", works adequately, but with an unacceptable lifespan."

HERE ARE SOME BRITA WATER FILTER REVIEWS:

AN UNHAPPY BRITA BUYER:
"... this unit has been replaced 3x...all for the same reason. It starts leaking after about 3 months. We appreciate that Brita honors their 1 year warranty by sending us new units, but it's getting annoying. Of course, I know their driver behind the willingness is they sell a lot of filters. But sheesh. Brita feel free to contact me. We love your product and what it's designed to do. But you've got kinks you need to work out and I'm happy to provide direct feedback to improve the reliability of your system."

ANOTHER UNHAPPY CUSTOMER OF BRITA:
"I've used the older brita model for several years and was very happy with it. Sadly the indicator light stopped working on the base so I bought this new model. I hate it. Maybe I got a dud, but I cannot see the green light to tell me its working. AND the water pressure is horrible--about half of what the old one was. I may try a PUR. I'm so disappointed. This one is NOT an improvement."

ONE MORE CUSTOMER WISHES THEY HADN'T BOUGHT A BRITA:
"the spout for the filtered water does not come out like a stream anymore but splashes all over the place. It is impossible to fill a water bottle or thermos with it or anything with a small opening. Even holding a regular glass under it is tricky because none of the water comes actually from the center of the water flow. Instead, it splaches all over your hands and into the sink. The control knob is also a change I'm not crazy about.
I've got this new model at our local BJs at a price I thought was a bargain because it included two filters. I paid $30 but now realize it's not even worth $10. My family also hates the way it works so I guess it's "Good-bye Brita" . "

HERE ARE SOME PUR WATER FILTER REVIEWS:

A PUR CUSTOMER HAS THIS TO SAY:
"While the filtered water from the Pur system tastes great it just isn't worth the hassle. After trying both vertical and horizontal styles I have given up on Pur. I have been through 5 of them and none has lasted through more than 3 filters. The unit will start leaking and spraying all over the kitchen and since it is entirely plastic there is no way to repair them. I personally have had good luck with contacting Pur. Twice they replaced the unit at no cost but the replacements broke within a couple of months."

THIS PUR CUSTOMER IS GOING FROM BAD TO WORSE, OR IS IT FROM WORSE TO BAD?
"This is the 3rd or 4th Pur water filter that I've had. The first few times I tried the models without the "filter-life indicator" window. All of them eventually leaked and had to be discarded. With the model that I now own, I have had exactly the same problem as described by others here - half-way through the very first filter, it started leaking from the indicator window - at first it was a slow leak but after a few weeks turned into a spray that gets all over you. In general, these Pur filters do not last very long, and this model with the clear window definitely has a design defect - I would warn anybody to avoid purchasing this item or similar Pur faucet filters. I'm going to try a Brita filter."

ANOTHER PUR CUSTOMER GIVES UP:
"We recently bought the newly designed PUR system for our kitchen sink.
It looks really nice and fit easily to our sink but we have replaced it twice within three months because it randomly fell off and couldn't fit back into place.
The entire weight of the filter is resting on a tiny piece of plastic that doesn't hold up well.

I was hoping the second one would work so it was just a "fluke" but we're done with Pur for now!"

AND NOW SOME GOOD WATER FILTER REVIEWS:

A TYPICAL RAVE REVIEW OF MULTIPURE:
"We have had a tap water problem for a while, with a yellow color and a bad taste. After searching reviews for a while, I bought this Multi-Pure countertop unit. We have been using it for over a month now. The water that comes out of it is perfect! Absolutely crystal clear, and tastes better than bottled water. The water comes out fast enough to fill a pot in less than a minute. Overall I'm very pleased."

ANOTHER HAPPY MULTIPURE CUSTOMER:
"I searched virtually every single possible company that is out there (big and small names). I can say without qualms that in terms of the number of different pollutants that can be removed, and certification for the removal of such pollutents, Multipure is the king. It gets rid of the gunk, leaving the important trace minerals. The only downside is the price. But consider it as a preventative health saving investment. I bought this item, and don't regret it one bit. Clean, pure tasting water. Peace of mind. And no, I'm not a spokesperson for this company, just a happy customer."

MULTIPURE WATER FILTER SYSTEMS LAST A LONG TIME:
"We have had Multipure undersink filters in the kitchens of our home and office for more than 10 years. Same units are still working properly after all these years, so you get your money's worth with this product! Our filtered water tastes good and fresh."

DO YOU SEE A PATTERN HERE? MULTIPURE CUSTOMERS ARE HAPPY CUSTOMERS!
"'I've owned the MP750SB for nearly 3 years and paid about $65 for each replacement filter, which has lasted about one year or 750 gallons. Very cost effective in all ways. In previous years, I paid $100 month for bottled water home-delivered in glass bottles, and never really knew what contaminants it contained. I also purchased another water filter covered by CR and found that it did not last as long as the company said it would and while it tasted delicious in the beginning, when the filter started to go bad, it was horrid. Multi-Pure is not only certified to last 750 gallons or one year, but lasts that long with good results up to the end."

YET ANOTHER HAPPY MULTIPURE CUSTOMER!
"I have owned this product for 20+ yrs with not one problem. When my community water system had a problem with giardia contamination and there were long lines at the store for bottled water, I could trust my filter to provide me with safe water. I'm moving to a new house and another Multi-Pure Filter is on my list to install before new carpeting and paint. They have a great program to automatically send new filters at whatever interval you request. They have excellent customer service, should you need it, though I've only had to call them to ask questions about my filter. I highly recommend this filter!"

DO I NEED TO GO ON? JUST ONE MORE:
"After moving to Tumwater and Olympia, Washington, with their chemically treated water, we missed our well water and began searching for a means of plentiful, quality water.

Initially, I purchased simple filters that screwed onto the tap. They helped, but just didn't quite produce the quality we were looking for. Too, they were clumsy to use. We progressed to little more expensive counter-top units. Again, an improvement, but not the end solution.

I began more serious searches and, after hours of on-line research, I selected the MULTI-PURE under-counter water filter. It required a hole in the sink to install the on-demand faucet. Initially, I drilled one, but since have used the spray nozzle hole in rentals. From day we installed it, it was a hit. Now, regardless of where I live, the filter system goes with us."
______________________________

Again, these are all legitimate reviews and I did not have to go hunting for them, these were typical reviews. To be honest, there are some good reviews of Aquasana and Brita, especially Brita's pitcher filters. But the fact is, these other filters do not filter as many contaminants as Multipure, cost more to operate when you consider the replacement cartridges, do not have a Lifetime Warranty on the housing, and are not made with the same American Made quality that Multipure has.

The simple fact is that the NSF certifies that:

  • Multiure water filter systems are manufactured to stringent quality standards
  • Multipure filters reduce over 60 contaminants including several important ones that Aquasana and Brita do not (see this page)
  • Multipure makes the only NSF Certified carbon block filter that reduces ArsenicV (the Aquaperform - formerly called the 880)
  • Multipure water filters do exactly what Multipure says they do (here is an example of our stats according to the NSF) and we are not allowed to use misleading advertising like some other companies do

So if you want a water filter system that will last many years, you only have to change the cartridge once per year, is NSF Certified so you can trust that it does what they say it does, it has good water flow, reduces more contaminants than any other filter on the market... then get a MULTIPURE!

And don't forget, it's got a 90 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE AND A LIFETIME WARRANTY SO YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!
