Here is an example of arsenic content in water from the DWP's Los Angeles Aqueduct Filtration Plant* which provides water to residents of Los Angeles:

The level of arsenic in the LAAFP (Los Angeles Aquaduct Filtration Plant) ranges from <2 - 6 ug/L.

But the Public Health Goal (PLG) (set by the California Environmental Protection Agency) for this dangerous contaminant is .004 ug/L. *

That means that the average amount of the dangerous contaminant arsenic in the L.A. Aqueduct Filtration Plant water that arrives at the tap of millions of Los Angelenos is about 500-1500 TIMES THE AMOUNT of the Public Health Goal set by the California Environmental Protection Agency.*

Los Angeles has what is considered to be a GOOD public water filtration system so some systems around the country actually have even MORE arsenic.
